Sounds Like Shavon- Online Music Discovery

Today I came across a Diamond in the Online Music World. ReverbNation.com is a website that focuses on the independent music industry. It provides a central site for musicians, producers, and venues to collaborate and communicate.  I had just spent a mind opening weekend in Mount Shasta California with my wife and 2 daughters.  The town had such a good energy, and the people were friendly and very open minded.  With the mountain drawing in all types of people from all over the world, it proved to be a very interesting vacation spot, and incredibly beautiful.   I was curious as to the types of musicians that might live in the area, and what kind of interesting sounds I could come across.  I decided to check and see if  there was anybody from Mount Shasta on Reverbnation.  I found about 60 Artist in the area and in the #1 spot was a young girl called "Sounds Like Shavon".   The above picture caught my attention and her very witty and Real introduction to her music.   The first song "Craziness" really blew my mind, I was definitly not expecting this sound from an online Unsigned artist.   Her lyrics were smart, relatable, catchy, and you were pulled into the song.   It is a Modern Acoustic/Pop/TripHop sound, and the vocals are fantastic.   As I listened to more songs, there seemed to be a strong steady level of consistency in well written material, that was catchy and moving.   The tracks are creatively produced and the guitar work has unique character.   There were about 20 songs on the page and I had a hard time picking a favorite.   Here is my top 4 picks you absolutely must go listen to, and trust me you will thank me you did.   Also I included a live perfomance of an incredible song called "Castle In the Sky"

CANVAS OF WAVES- "after 3 listens this Acoustic Track (with a powerful dance of strings in the background)  was probly my favorite track, and what put me over the edge with it other than the powerful metaphoric lyrics, and deep emotion, was the 3 part harmony at the end of the track.  Shavon's voice explodes and its sends goosebumps all over your skin. I felt her song, and that was a feeling I have not got from music in a long long time."

I DO BAD THINGS-" Shavon starts off this song with the lyrics "I am no fool, but I do foolish things".   The lyrics in this acoustic only track are simple and real and very moving.  I cannot express enough how much the Emotion in shavons voice comes across, and just makes the songs go to a whole other level."

BLACKSONG- "  Now this track was a whole other sound from the rest, in similar production with the first song Craziness, it had a very catchy and well put together production.   The lyrics again and vocals are wonderful.  This Track fts. UK hip/hop group Lunatic Fluid, and the extra male vocal and rap put in the song really knock this one out of the park.   I normally dont listen to or like rap music, its just not a favorite, but this rap was different, more songwriter inspired and again very real lyrics.   I would say shavon vocals are top knotch in this track and the chorus is to catchy for words.  I will let you go find that out for yourself"

WORLD APART- " This track again ft. Lunatic Fluid and this one had me in awwww!  I was listening to something I had never heard before, powerful rap music I was enjoying, and a voice of an angel mixing in with heartfelt thought provoking lyrics. "


After listening to all the tracks on the page I noticed some youtube music videos for both craziness, and blacksong.  Both were incredibly creative and well put together.  I was able to find several live videos of shavon performing, and other works she has done, and yet again was blown away.  (just ask my wife I wouldnt shut up about it)  This is a Female artist from California working with artist in many different genre's of music all over the world.  She has even traveled to UK to form an alliance with Lunatic Fluid.    Her acoustic cover of  Bob dylans- Knocking on heavens door was the best vocal cover of that song I have ever heard period. After contacting shavon  via reverbnation to ask a few questions www.reverbnation.com/soundslikeshavonmusic I am pleased to say, she will not be a hidden treasure much longer.   Shavon and Lunatic Fluid have just signed a Publishing/Distribution deal with David Courtney (he discovered leo sayer) and mybandtv.   A new 13 track album is due to be released within the month all over online distribution sites, from itunes, Rhapsody, Napster, and Amazon MP3 just to name a few.  The album is Called Shavon and Lunatic Fluid- Becoming Lunatic.  I strongly encourage everyone reading this to take some time and listen to a very creative and talented musical individual.   Singer, songwriter, musician, performer, producer, director, collaborative artist!! Sounds Like Shavon.
